Well, I have a strong distaste for those english "kid dubs" with all their bad puns and toilet humour, as well as them at times leaving out scenes or informations or badly editing them. Normally it does not take more then name of the series + "eng sub" + "stream" for google to find what you are looking for. Well, I am not quite sure whether it is allowed to tell you about fansub streaming sites, but let me put it like this: They do exist.
They're working on s4 now I believe, but as much as there is a difference the base plot and characters are relatively the same, the way the story is told is just a bit different. There's actually a blog dedicated to displaying differences between characters/story and a dedicated section for each episode comparing what was done differently in the dub vs sub of each season. Tamers more so, Adventure 1 is 50/50 it took awhile for them to really dust off some of that intense american child joke coating in order to get to some real depth but it did transition later on into the season. I watch it and cringe wondering how it was able to be released, but if dub is the only way to go since sub isn't readily available, Adventure 1 and Tamers are the best choices. I'm not defending all dubs by a long shot, I mean the dub on the american version of the 'digmon movie' was the most ridiculous thing in creation. I understand why people like the sub better, it's more adult it's less cheesy and dumbed down, but essentially same plot and with few exceptions in adventure and tamers same characters/personalities. It wasn't as bad as the others, and music is not a key functioning point in storyline, it is background ambiance. I know there are some differences, but if you look at the play by play differences in tamers and adventure 1 they're the closest the sub was in the first 1-4 seasons.
So Savers/Data Squad and a handful of movies. The best dubs were the Disney ones, as they focused on accuracy rather than humor, and were less toned down due to being targeted at slightly older kids.
Allusions to HP Lovecraft and certain historical content was omitted as well. Each season except XW was subbed multiple times, Fuzzle has a good guide to which subs you should look for: Īs for the dub, Tamers was better than the 02 dub, but it removed any discussion of things like terrorist attacks, school bullying, and other more serious content. Kissanime has some of the series subbed, but IIRC they use older subs by groups that were less accurate in several instances, sometimes made using lower quality raws.
